Junior Sailing Camp 2017
Junior Sailing Camp 2017 saw 19 youngsters take to the water in various dinghies, Optimists, Toppers, Picos, Lasers, an Enterprise and the club Topazes were all in action for the busy week.
Particpants ranged from beginners, right up to those doing their assitant instructor qualification, everyone learned a huge amount from our fantastic instructors.
The enthusiasm throughout the age groups continued despite the rain and lack of wind at points! The instructors all pulled together and got creative with sailing related games, that covered some of the theory areas, until the wind filled in and our enthusiam pushed the rain away.
It was a fabulous week that finished with the Commodores Junior Cup, which saw a gentle breeze and sunshine for the first time in a few years! 17 of the camp participants took to the water and raced each other. All of the youngsters did brilliantly and the parents could see how far they had all progressed thoughout the week.
I can proudly say that sailing camp 2017 was a huge success, thanks to all the instructors, assistants and parents who made the week run so smoothly and ensured everyone had a lovely time.
I look forward to seeing all the juniors on the water again soon.
